2017 In Review | Yearly Wrap Up
2017 was a great year for my business. I had twice as many photo shoots than ever before. I quadrupled the amount of weddings that I had in the past two years. I purchased all new equipment including a new full frame camera and zoom lens.
At the beginning of the year, I set a personal goal to get five weddings to shoot on my own. I ended up booking eight! I didn't do any second shooting this year for other photographer's, I just focused on building my own clientele.
In the past, I've always only had one Senior Representative. This year, I decided to go with five. Megan, Alivia, Tiara, Mackie, and Ashley are all amazing. They each got individual sessions and we did a group session. The group session was a lot of fun but it was SO hard to plan, getting 6 schedules to line up was really difficult. But I know for the future that I need to have a date picked out in advance.
I also got published in my first magazine this year. One of my Reps, Mackie, had an idea for a fairy tale session. After we did it, it turned out to be one of my favorite sessions ever. I follow a few magazines pages on Facebook and REALM magazine was taking submissions for water session. We did the fairy tale session in the river at Highbanks so I thought it would be perfect to submit. I found out that my pictures had been chosen right before I went on vacation in August. I went and pre-ordered five copies of the magazine because I was so excited. When I got back from vacation, they had arrived. I was ecstatic. Being published in one magazine just made me want to be in more!
I rented a studio from the amazing Pearlescent Photography and had my first two boudoir sessions. They were amazing. Both girls ended up walking away with way more confidence than they had when they walked in. I love helping women realize their true beauty. In today's society we are so beat down and made fun of for our body sizes and shapes. Most women are so self-conscious, including myself. I want to help more women feel comfortable and sexy in their own skin, no matter what shape or size.
Other than those, I really didn't have any other firsts for my business. I'm just continuing to hustle and try to grow my business. I'm still in school for Entrepreneurship, trying to learn as much as I can about owning your own business.
I want to say thank you to all of my new and returning clients from this year. I wouldn't be where I'm at without you guys. I also want to thank my amazing friends and family that support my dream. Running a business is really hard and it can take a mental toll on the owner. My friends and family support me and get me through the rough times. I love my business and I pour my heart and soul into it. I am so grateful for everything. Always remember that I love you guys.
Here's to an astonishing year and hopefully another one to come! Enjoy some of my favorites from my sessions and weddings this year.
