College Experience

Hey it's Ruth here! I got an opportunity to start college early with two programs I am doing! I was very nervous to come on campus and just being so far away from home. I have only been on the campus twice for a campus tour but not actually stayed 3 weeks! The experience is very different but I am starting to get used to my environment. There are also some great people I want to meet and just stepping out of my comfort zone and being more confident in myself!

The programs I am doing are called Trio and The Summer Bridge. These programs are so amazing and I thank God that I am a part of it! The Trio program is free and it is for first generation students. You also get a chance to take one of your freshman classes for free on campus. The Summer Bridge program is also free but you are not taking classes, they just want you to stay on campus, which I got to experience the dorm living before I actually move in next month, and to get familiar with the university. They plan out different activities and we get to go places around the campus!

I am very happy that I get a chance to experience this. My advice is that whenever you get a chance for anything take it and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Get involved on the campus like I am now. I am getting used to my school and just loving it. The best part is that I get to talk with my advisors and even meet up with my teachers so I can build a good relationship with them before the fall semester begins.  I hope you find the school that makes you happy and want to further your education.
