England, France, & Germany | Vacation | July 2012
Since I leave for Europe again soon, I wanted to do a throwback to my last trip to Europe. In 2012, my Dad took me to England, France, and Germany. We spend about a week in each place. England was awesome, France was okay, and Germany was gorgeous!!
We went to London the week before the Olympics were held there so everything was getting prepped for that. We even saw some Olympic athletes practicing on the river. We rode the London Eye, saw Piccadilly Square, went to Stonehenge, saw the Roman Baths, and wandered around many other castles.
We went to Paris for another week. Our hotel had a view of the Eiffel Tower. When we went to the Eiffel Tower, we decided to climb the stairs up to ththe platform instead of take the elevator. It was a workout but it was worth it! I highly recommend taking the stairs instead of the elevator. You miss a lot of views and the whole experience when you're closed in the elevator. While we were in France, we saw Notre Dame, Mont Saint Michel, Palace of Versailles, and the Arc de Triomphe. Personally, I was not very fond of Paris itself. I thought it was dirty and the people were rude. But I'm still glad I went. My favorite part of France was seeing Mont Saint Michel. We hiked all the way through the city up to the castle on top. I felt like I was in Tangled.
We also spent a few days Germany. We stayed in a little town called Kusel and took a day trip to Speyer. My favorite two things we did in Germany were a treetop obstacle course with ziplining and hiking up a big hill at sunset to go to a restaurant atop the hill. Germany is absolutely gorgeous and I highly recommend visiting there at least once in your lifetime.
