Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | Weekend Adventures | February 2018
Saturday, February 3rd to Sunday, February 4th
Early in February, I took a weekend trip to see a friend in Pittsburgh. I drove out Saturday morning and came home Sunday afternoon. We spent a lot of time just talking and catching up, it was nice.
Saturday we went to the Duquesne Incline to get an awesome view of downtown Pittsburgh. We got there right as the sun was going down so that we could see the city in the daylight and at night. It was really cool. The actually trolley car was old and historic, it has been in operation since 1854! After the Incline, we went to dinner at Primanti Bros, which is a restaurant that originated in Pittsburgh. We had a sandwich with chicken, cole slaw, and french fries on it. I was a little skeptical of eating it at first because that's a weird combination of tastes but it was actually pretty good! Always try something once, you never know what you could end up liking. Once we finished dinner, we went to see Wicked. The show was amazing. I had never seen it before and I was astonished with how good the "wicked witch" sang. I highly recommend seeing Wicked if you like musicals. After the show, we went back to Amy's house, talked some more, and when 3am rolled around and I said I was hungry, Amy and her boyfriend told me that I HAD to have food from Sheetz. I was like, "the gas station???", but they insisted. All of the food is made to order and it was actually pretty tasty. Sheetz is definitely not like any of the nasty gas stations we have around Columbus.... We finished eating and fell asleep shortly after.
On Sunday, I slept in until about noon, then we went to the Original Pancake House for brunch, which was very good as well. We said our goodbyes and I headed home. Both of my drives were smooth and it was really nice to see Pittsburgh and not just drive by it on my way to somewhere else. My description for Pittsburgh is "rolling hills of houses".
