Florida | Vacation | June 2016
This is a personal post for me. All pictures were taken with my cell phone and include me and my boyfriend, Joshua. I just wanted to share with you my recent vacation to Florida! :)
We started out going by going to Daytona Beach for two days. As soon as we got there, we met up with my cousin Krystal of Sweet Indulgence Photography. She took some pictures of Josh and I on the beach and I think they turned out super cute.
We spent the night at the beach, taking long walks along the water, looking for baby sea turtles, and imagining what scary creatures lurk in the ocean at night. The next morning we woke up and went down to the Daytona Beach Pier. All the rides ended up being closed so we just walked along the pier and did some souvenir shopping. We left around noon to go back to our hotel in Orlando. As soon as we got to Orlando, Tropical Storm Colin hit us with lots and lots of rain so we just hung out at the hotel the rest of the day.
The following day, we woke up bright and early and headed off to Universal Studios to see Harry Potter!
We got there as soon as the park opened and of course the first thing we did when we got there was go straight back to Hogwarts. I thought the ride in there was the best. Then we went on the Flight of the Hippogriff ride, which I thought was kind of disappointing. I'm spoiled by Cedar Point and their awesome roller coasters.
After we hung out a Hogsmeade for awhile, we took the Hogwarts Express to Diagon Alley. I thought the train presentation was really cool. In Diagon Alley, we looked around for awhile then rode the Escape from Gringotts ride. Josh liked this one the best. I agree it seemed pretty real. After the ride we went and ate lunch at the Leaky Cauldron. Joshua got Butterbeer and I got Pumpkin juice. The Butterbeer was REALLY good, it tasted just like butterscotch. The Pumpkin juice was okay, it tasted like pumpkin, cinnamon, and apple cider all mixed together.
When we finished lunch, we decided to go walk around the rest of the Universal park. We rode the ET and Spiderman rides and saw a trained pet show. My favorite part was Dr. Suess land. It was like being in one (or all) of his books at once!
We rode the Hogwarts Express back to Hogsmeade. In case you don't know, they play different scenarios each way on the train, so make sure you ride it both ways!
Back in Hogsmeade, we hung out for awhile longer and ended up leaving the park pretty early. We went shopping at a Tanger Outlet mall in Orlando and got stuck in a downpour of rain for at least an hour, it sucked.
Two days later we went to Magic Kingdom! We got to the park before it opened and got to see the welcome train. As soon as we got off the monorail and into the line for security at the gates, it started pouring on us. Josh and I didn't have ponchos so we got soaked. What a great way to start our day, right? Well as soon as we got through the gates, everything got better! We headed straight to the back of the park and rode the Dumbo ride first! :D We got to the Goofy, Daisy, Donald, and Minnie line in Fantasyland before it even opened, so we waited to meet them. Yes, I brought an autograph book because I'm secretly a little kid at heart. Then we rode the Teacup ride and headed around to see Belle. Belle's adventure was like an interactive play for little kids (and Josh) to act in. Josh was a knight in shining armor. I did not like being a big kid, wanting pictures with Belle, and only the little kids could get them. Dumb. We also saw Rapunzel, Cinderella, and Ariel right away.
Heading over to Tomorrowland, we rode the racecars, met Buzz, rode the Carousel of Progress, and headed up to grab some lunch. The Festival of Fantasy parade was supposed to start at 3pm but it ended up getting cancelled due to more rain that came in. Main Street U.S.A. feels like you went back in time and they have some really cool stuff in the shops. When the parade got cancelled, we went up to see Mickey, Tinkerbell, and Stitch. Mickey Mouse talked, it was weird. I mean it was cool that he could talk, but you could tell it was automated and could only say certain things at certain times. We had a few akward silences while we were "talking" to him. I was kind of disappointed. Stitch proposed to the teenage girl two people in front of me, gave flowers and a kiss to the little girl directly in front of me, then picked his booger and wiped it on me! Thanks Stitch!
Pluto is my favorite character and he definetly made me like him even more. We got in line before he got there so we didn't have to wait long. I ran up and gave him a big hug, I was so excited I couldn't stop smiling. Pluto took my hands and danced with me for a minute and even twirled me. Unfortunately the video that we tried to get didn't turn out or you guys could have seen it too. I guess I'll just have to keep it all in my memory and hope that I never forget it!
We went up to Frontierland and Adventureland, we rode the Pirate's of the Carribean ride. Did you know, the Pirate's of the Carribean movie was made based off of the ride? Not the other way around like most other rides. The Pirates ride was my favorite. Then we went to the Haunted Mansion ride, this was Josh's favorite. He's a horror/scary movie fan, I'm not. Although this movie and ride weren't that scary, all I could imagine on the ride was people popping out at me and scaring me. The cinema effects in this ride were incredible though.
We went back to Tomorrowland and rode the Stitch ride and did Monster's Inc. Laugh Room. I thought the Laugh Room was hilarious, probably because I am a very punny person and that was exactly how the characters acted. We also did PhilharMagic, which I thought was awesome. It's 3D and we got front row seats. It really took you through the storyline of Disney's most popular movies.
The Electrical Parade started shortly after that, excuse my blurry pictures, my phone doesn't do well with night pictures. This parade was unbelievable but it kind of upset me. There were so many other characters in this parade that you couldn't actually meet throughout the day. I wanted to meet as many people as possible and not everyone was available to meet.
A few minutes after the parade ended, the castle light show and fireworks started. I loved how they transformed the castle into different characters, eras, and montages. The fireworks were really awesome as well, very picture perfect. As soon as the fireworks ended, we left the park and headed straight to bed.
The day after Magic Kingdom, we went to Disney Springs. Our favorite stores were the giant Disney store, the Lego store with all their cool, giant sculptures, the Star Wars store and I personally like the Christmas store. :D We ate lunch at the Rainforest Cafe and saw car boats floating around in the water and they can even drive on land!
Overall, it was a great trip with some great people! My next Disney goal is to go to Disneyland in California. :D
